- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★My wife and I saw four mule deer resting next to the trail during our hike; they were spooked by us so stood up and stared at us -- two adults and a pair of twins. Also, there were six large ducks napping on the park side of the Truckee River. And we saw several butterflies, mostly white ones but several multicolored ones. It was a beautiful, sunny day with light breezes -- great day for us to be hiking there. We hike in this park at least twice a year. Looking forward to seeing all those Aspen change color this Fall. Super family hiking and photography park, but don't bring your dog; they're prohibited and may cost you a fine.By Ron Tillotson, January 18, 2017
